Greenhill Blakeney (ARR/ARR)

Blakeney is without doubt the best ram we have produced, and a product of our main families, being by Black Pepper, ironically born shortly after we had lost Pepper, and out of a Pedrog daughter, Greenhill Wallace. This was her only lamb, and a cracker he was from day one. He goes right back to Hermione our foundation ewe, who is his Great Great Great Grandmother.

Blakeney was shown throuighout the summer of 2014, and only beaten in a lamb class once.

In breed classes he won at Otley, Nidderdale and Bingley, where he was also Breed Champion. Great Yorkshire Show, which was the ZSA National Show, and he stood Reserve Male Champion to Wallridge Moor Ajax who won overall.

At the same show, Brookdene Beyonce also by Black Pepper stood Reserve Female and Reserve overall, so a good showing by Peppers offspring.

Blakeney also won mixed breed classes at Honley, Arthington and Keighley.

In 2015 as a shearling Blakeney once again stood Res. Male Champion Zwartbles Sheep Association National Show held at The Great Yorkshire Show, having stood 2nd in his class to Beech Hay Barrister who was Breed Champion. He was shown lightly this year, but was Breed Champion at Bingley and Arthington, Reserve Breed Champion at Gargrave and Nidderrdale, and placed 1st at Westmoreland and Trawden on his only outings. He was awarded the Best Yorkshire Exhibitor Bred Sheep at the Great Yorkshire Show.

He was then placed 1st Prize Stock Ram ZSA Northern Area Flock Competition 2015

In 2016 Blakeney was again placed 1st in the Northern Area Flock Competition after a successful show season including 1st Prize Aged Ram Royal Highland Show. His daughter, Greenhill DelMonte won 6 Breed Champions during 2016, and two more in 2017.

Blakeney was placed 1st Aged Ram at the ZSA National Show held at The Royal Highland Show in 2017, and one of his daughters repeated the feat in the ewe lamb class in 2018. At the ZSA in-lamb sale at Carlisle in 2019 a Blakeney sired ewe lamb was sold for 2000gns.

From him being around 6 weeks old we searched the whole of the UK for a ram lamb to purchase (which we did after 18 months of searching), but both us and Brookdene could not see one that we thought better anywhere.- thats not to say there wasn't one, but we couldn't find it.
