Black Pepper was Stock Ram for us from 2008 to 2013, bought for his style, and correctness, as well as depth of breeding for correct markings, good mouth and all round quality.

We have not been disappointed. He has thrown some stylish lambs, both male and female.

The 2010 season gave us a very smart shearling son, Greenhill Ronaldo - a grandson of Hermione, out of our show ewe for the previous 2 years, Greenhill Narnia, he is Scrapie Tested ARR/ARR.- Ronaldo went on to be 1st Great Yorkshire, and Male Reserve Champion, 2nd Royal Welsh - only beaten by the eventual Champion. He was Breed Champion at both Bingley Show and Gargrave Show.

The 2011 shows were successful with Breed Champion at Otley with Greenhill Susie, and Reserve with Greenhill Titan, a daughter and son of Pepper.

At the first National show (2011) at Malvern, three of Pepper's offspring took second in the group, with a young daughter of his son Ronaldo standing 4th in the Untrimmed Ewe lamb class.

During 2012 his daughter's offspring were coming to the fore. Pepper's daughters crossed well with Pedrog (as we expected with him being a son of Kiln Fields Black Label - already proven at Beech Hay) and they have matured into quality sheep.

In 2013 Peppers ewe lambs have been placed 1st 2nd and 3rd Great Yorkshire Show (out of 17 forward), 1st Otley, 1st Penrith.

Limestone Zwartbles in Southern Ireland won Supreme Southern Ireland Zwartbles Ram lamb Champion with Limestone Angus, as well as 1st and 3rd place ewe lambs with Limestone Abby and Alice respectively at Clonmel Show all sired by Black Pepper.

Pep was well grown, and was a BIG sheep making a BIG impression on our flock, he threw well marked correct lambs, which stay black. 

Sired by the renowned Kiln Fields Black Label, RASE Male Champion 2007, Monmouth Breed Champion 2008, out of a very smart and correct ewe, Beech Hay Matata, we are confident he is a ram not to be sneezed at!

His first three sons sold at public auction averaged £427

In 2013 we have once again went back to him and put him on unrelated sheep after only using this quality ram as a sweeper for 2 years.

Great Yorkshire Show 2014 National Zwartbles Show, Pepper's Lambs win both the ewe and ram lamb classes. The ewe lamb went on to be Reserve Female Champion and the Ram Lamb went on to be Reserve Male Champion (Greenhill Blakeney)

2015 continues at a pace with Pepper's offspring through AI. A daughter, Brookdene Cover Girl was 1st placed at the National Zwartbles Show, and went on to win 4 Breed Championships, she went to the ZSA November Sale at Carlisle where she was turned out of the ring with bidding at 2100 gns. She then carried on to be Reserve Female Champion at The Royal Highland Show, and Reserve Champion at the ZSA National Show in 2016.

His son Blakeney was again Reserve Male Champion, and went on to win the Northern Area Flock Competition Stock Ram 2015 and 2016, as well as 2 Breed Champions and 2 Reserve Breed Champions (Both behind his half sister Cover Girl).
