Rams

We have, over the past few years sold a number of Ram Lambs which have gone into pedigree breeding for other flocks.

Montjeu was the first ram lamb that we had any success with in the showring. He stood second in his class at the Great Yorkshire Show, and went on to be Reserve Male Champion.

Montjeu was the product of our stock ram, Kilimanjaro, and Greenhill Kezia who produced 12 ram lambs in four lambings prior to having twin females, much to my relief! - and then dying on me....

Montjeu was reserve male at The Great Yorkshire Show in 2006, and later sold at Carlisle August sale to Mr Porter and Mrs Evans, Brace Flock after standing 3rd in a class of 32 lambs.

Greenhill Piccolo

Piccolo was a son of Hermione, born on 1.1.08, Blue Tongue year. Because of the restrictions, showing was in zones, and we could only go in certain ares. He stood Breed Champion at Bingley Show, and then Reserve Interbreed. At the Great Yorkshire he was the only Zwartbles lamb there, and went into a real mix and match class where he stood third....I will say no more. On the second day Harry used him in the young Handler class, which they won. A short time after I received a phone call - we were invited to meet the Queen the following day, and so he went down in history as the first zwartbles the Queen had ever seen!

We were unable to go to Carlisle as usual, and so ventured to Worcester where Piccolo was bought by Richard Holloway and became Stock Ram for the Holly flock. He is now the foundation sire for Jo Norman's Piccolo Flock.

Greenhill Ronaldo (Pictured)

Ronaldo was the first son of Black Pepper that we sold. He was a February born lamb and after taking him to Carlisle sale , where he was too small, I was quite happy to take him home and run him round to a shearling.

He went on to be 1st Prize Ram Great Yorkshire 2010, 2nd Prize Shearling RWAS, Breed Champion at Gargrave and Bingley - where he was also Reserve Interbreed Chamion, and then stood 2nd at the Carlisle Premier Sale before moving on to Selside, where he was Stock ram for many years.

We have admired this sheep's produce for a couple of years now, and Harry has purchased one of his daughters as a foundation ewe in his new flock - This is the first female to arrive here from 'outside' since 2002!

These are but a few, they are all over the country, from Cornwall to Carnoustie!
